The Brief

The Brif

Capital Credit union is a south Dublin-based financial cooperative with the local community as its hub. With several offices and over 55,000 members, CCU is one of Ireland’s most progressive and inclusive credit unions, serving Dundrum, Ballinteer, Knocklyon, Drimnagh, Sandyford, Leopardstown, Sandymount, St. Kevin’s, Francis Street and Sundrive. They needed a new, dynamic website that spoke to their growing member community and attracted new members.

From our first user experience workshop, Matrix knew CCU lived up to the claim that it’s “more than just a bank”. They needed a new site that enhanced their community values and charity commitments, while competing with offerings from big banks and online institutions. The project was a close collaboration, and key CCU stakeholders engaged fully with the process, offering feedback on branding and the member-focused user journey.

Our team created a bold design and rewarding user experience that is accessible to members of all ages and online abilities. We helped Capital incorporate its history and community projects alongside its suite of financial packages and clear branding.

We incorporated a strong visual branding palette throughout the site with seamless navigation, engaging animation and infographics. The user-friendly Loan Calculator is a call to action to keep members fully informed of their proposed commitments, and the web chat function is a reassuring message that CCU is listening to its members.

The new site also highlights CCU’s commitment to offering sustainable options for members, with a separate ‘Green Zone’ highlighting packages such as the Green Loan and ProEnergy home loan — offering members a progressive path to home improvement, while future-proofing Capital Credit Union through a rebrand and modernised values.
