Snapchat Users Annoyed With New Update

Popular picture messaging app Snapchat has irked many of its users this week with tweaks to some of its features. Users have so far complained about increased data usage, higher battery consumption and the placement of the Snapchat discover section which now encompasses the top part of the “my stories” feature.

Snapchat Discover is essentially their main money-making source which allows large companies to pay Snapchat to effectively advertise to millions of users each day. Many people however are accusing  Snapchat of ruining the app by becoming more money orientated and neglecting the user.

Another key issue is a problem with the battery life that has also annoyed many users who took to Twitter to vent their frustration.

The update has proved so unpopular that Snapchat’s rating on the Apple app store has dropped to 2.5 stars.

It remains to be seen if Snapchat will respond to any of these issues but there is a way for Android users to revert back to the old format before the update. they simply need to go to Settings> Applications > Application Manager > Uninstall Updates.

On the iPhone, you’ll need to connect to your computer, and you’ll also need to have already synced a copy of the app to your computer before the update.

First, delete the Snapchat app on your iPhone. Now connect to iTunes and backup and Sync, but don’t check for app updates.

After the sync is complete click on your iPhone, then on apps and then check the box on Snapchat. More detailed instructions are available from iPhoneFAQ.
