Ireland’s Internet Day – An Evening With Jimmy Wales

The team here at Matrix Internet is gearing up to attend Ireland’s Internet day, which will be hosted by The Irish Domain Registry (IEDR) this evening.

The event, which is in its third year, will be held at MacNeill Theatre, in the Hamilton Building at Trinity College Dublin. The aims of the event are to encourage awareness of the importance of the internet amongst business owners and citizens in modern-day Ireland.

Attendees this year are in for a real treat, as Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales will be delivering an extensive keynote speech about the founding of the free encyclopedia and how to combat “fake news”. Mr Wales will also be discussing the launch of WikiTribune, a collaborative online news publication, which allows journalism professionals and contributors to work together.

Time magazine has in the past named Mr Wales as one of its 100 Most Influential people. There are still limited tickets available for the event and you can view the full agenda of the evening right here. See you there!
