Two Matrix clients make the 2026 Digital Media Awards shortlist

We’re dusting off our tuxedos and gowns, as two Matrix client projects are heading to the 2026 Irish Digital Media Awards.

GoCar has made the shortlist for Best App, while ESB Networks’ Weather Watch has picked up three nominations, spanning content, data and technology, for the ceremony on October 9 at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Dublin.

GoCar is up for Best App

GoCar: Car-sharing, reimagined as a keyless app has been shortlisted for Best App.

Matrix designed, built and continues to maintain the GoCar app, turning Ireland’s largest car-sharing service into a phone-first, self-service platform. The app replaced physical swipe-card access with keyless entry and lets members find, book, unlock and manage a car from their phone, with the same experience across iOS, Android and web. The impact has been significant too, with monthly trips increasing eight-fold, active users increasing ten-fold and customer-care calls falling by 61% after the overhaul. Pasted markdown

Three nominations for ESB Networks Weather Watch

ESB Networks Weather Watch is shortlisted for Best Use of Content/Native, Best Use of Data & Insights and Best Tech & Innovation.

Matrix designed and developed the Weather Watch website with Real Nation on behalf of ESB Networks. The accessible WordPress platform helps schools explore weather, renewable energy and sustainability, with an interactive map of participating weather stations and a clear pathway through the programme.

It is particularly nice to see the same project recognised for its content, use of data and technology. The original programme brings together digital engagement, education and real-world weather data to help young people understand energy and the world around them.

The Irish Digital Media Awards celebrate standout work across Ireland’s digital technology, creativity and innovation sectors.

So, yes, we’ll be taking the red carpet seriously. Probably no Björk swan dress. Definitely no Will Smith slaps.

Most importantly, a huge toast to the teams at GoCar, ESB Networks and Real Nation, and to all our Matrix team who put the thinking, design, development, UX, content, accessibility and many hours of work into these projects.
