Building a youth-led European media platform

Body PulseZ gives young Europeans a place to create, publish and share stories about the issues that matter to them. Matrix helped shape the brand, communications, editorial support, content hub and digital systems behind this European youth media project.

Discover PulseZ

A new media space for young Europeans

PulseZ is an EU-funded digital democracy project for young Europeans aged 16 to 25, with a focus on politics, journalism, multimedia and civic participation.

The project gives young people tools, training and confidence to create content about European issues in their own voice, on their own channels and in formats that feel natural to them. It brings together youth organisations, media partners, educators, communications specialists and technology teams from across Europe.

PulseZ supports grassroots journalism by helping young creators bring local stories, opinions and questions into a wider European conversation.

Youth voices, stronger journalism and better debate

PulseZ responds to a clear challenge. Young people care about politics, climate, mental health, equality, inclusion and Europe’s future, but traditional media often fails to reach them in the right formats, language or tone.

The project supports young journalists, creators and activists with training in journalism, media ethics, fact-checking, social media, video, podcasting, storytelling, AI in journalism and media entrepreneurship.

The content hub gives articles, videos, podcasts and social content a central home, helping young people share their work, learn from peers and challenge disinformation with greater confidence.

Our contribution to PulseZ

Matrix played a major role across the project, supporting PulseZ from early strategy through to brand, communications, platform development, editorial guidance and long-term planning.

Under Work Package 1, Matrix worked with JA Europe on project coordination, quality assurance, sustainability planning and the long-term roadmap.

Under Work Package 3, Matrix contributed to editorial meetings, story planning and content direction. We gave feedback to young journalists and creators on story framing, headlines, introductions, structure, tone, formatting and calls to action, while keeping their voice and perspective at the centre.

Under Work Package 4, Matrix led the youth media brand and pan-European communications work. This included the communications strategy, visual identity, messaging, brand guidelines, style guides, campaign assets, newsletters, social media support and partner materials.

Under Work Package 5, Matrix led the content hub design, development, hosting and support. Our UX, UI and development teams worked on user needs, benchmarking, wireframes, visual design, accessibility, technical specifications, testing, SEO, hosting, cybersecurity and platform support.

A platform for participation and long-term impact

PulseZ brings journalism training, editorial support, digital publishing and community activity into one European project. Young people can build practical media skills, publish work, join discussions, attend events and become part of a wider network of creators.

Matrix helped turn that ambition into a working digital experience. The platform gives PulseZ a public home, while the communications system helps partners recruit participants, promote stories, share updates and keep the community active.

The long-term goal is a trusted European media space where young people keep creating, questioning, publishing and participating in their own words.
