Turning play into proof
DigPlay recognises the digital skills young people build through gaming. Matrix leads the platform, brand and communications work that helps the project turn gameplay into credible skills evidence for schools, educators, youth organisations and learners across Europe.
Making digital skills visible
Young people build digital skills every day when they play, create, communicate, collaborate and solve problems in digital environments. Traditional assessment often misses those skills, especially when they develop outside formal lessons.
DigPlay connects game-based assessment with the European Digital Competence Framework, DigComp, so learners can show what they know in a way that feels more natural and engaging.
The project focuses on young people aged 14 to 19 in secondary education, including general, technical and vocational pathways. It places particular focus on girls, rural learners and young people who face barriers to digital inclusion.

Our contribution to DigPlay
Matrix plays a central role in DigPlay across project quality, platform development, brand, communications and scale-up.
As co-lead of Work Package 1, Project Coordination, Quality and Data Management, Matrix supports the quality, risk and data management systems that keep the project coordinated, compliant and focused on measurable progress.
As lead of Work Package 5, DigPlay Results Platform Development, Matrix leads the digital platform work. The platform will give students and teachers access to assessment results, progress tracking, badges, competence visualisations, career advice and upskilling resources. Our role covers platform requirements, UX, UI, dashboard design, development, user testing, launch, hosting, security and support.
As lead of Work Package 8, Communications, Dissemination and Scale Up, Matrix leads the brand and visibility work. This includes the communications strategy, brand guidelines, dissemination toolkit, website content, campaigns, early adopter support and sustainability planning.

The long-term goal is a practical, inclusive model for digital skills recognition. DigPlay helps young people see the value of what they can do, and gives educators better tools to recognise, support and share that potential.
