Building skills for Europe’s sustainable digital future
Digital4Sustainability is a major European education and training project designed to help workers, educators and organisations respond to the twin green and digital transition. It focuses on the growing need for practical skills in areas such as digital sustainability, data, reporting, accessibility, cybersecurity, AI and ESG, especially as industry faces fast-changing regulatory, environmental and technological demands.
Through a mix of long-form learning, train-the-trainer activity and shorter urgent upskilling courses, the project creates flexible training routes for different audiences across education and industry. Its goal is not just to raise awareness, but to give people useful, applied knowledge that can support better decisions, stronger sustainability practices and a more future-ready European workforce.
A consortium with broad expertise and European reach
Digital4Sustainability brings together partners and associated partners from 14 EU countries, creating a strong mix of higher education institutions, VET providers, digital industry bodies, SMEs, networks and specialist organisations. That range is one of the project’s biggest strengths. It brings together expertise from education, business, technology, policy and skills development, creating a genuinely cross-sector response to Europe’s digital sustainability challenge. This breadth helps the project connect strategy with real workforce needs, while giving its outputs the reach, credibility and relevance needed to travel across borders and sectors.
Matrix’s role in Digital4Sustainability
Matrix plays a central role in how people experience and use Digital4Sustainability across Europe. As co-lead of WP5, we help shape the communication and dissemination strategy that’s carried the project from its early identity through to long-term visibility and impact. A big part of that work is building the brand itself. From the visual identity, brand guidelines and messaging framework to the website, platform design, campaign assets and supporting materials, we helped create a consistent identity that feels clear, engaging and easy for people to connect with across different countries and audiences.
A major part of our role is the European Digital Sustainability Skills Platform. Matrix leads this key project output and is responsible for editing and maintaining the platform, improving user experience and search performance, and helping it grow into the project’s main digital space for training resources, outputs and stakeholder engagement. We also support social media channels, newsletters, visual assets, videos, blog content and wider promotional materials.
Our contribution also includes EU-wide campaigns and digital marketing activities that build awareness and uptake among educators, trainers, decision-makers, businesses and learners all over Europe. Matrix mixes strategy, branding, design, content and UX to help steer an ambitious project so it feels genuinely accessible, relevant and useful.
